BIO

Katherine Muslow, provided legal counsel to the upper management leadership of the LSU Health Sciences Center and its School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, School of Allied Health and Graduate School. Trial Counsel – 1st Chair in Medical Malpractice lawsuits against the University. Addressed employment, compliance, ethics, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, faculty affairs, student affairs and other legal issues of the University; educated staff and faculty as appropriate on legal requirements. Represented senior administrators, executives and managers in administrative hearings, represented the University and its officials in litigation for which coverage was not provided by the State Office of Risk Management, and coordinated work of outside attorneys and assisted and supervised outside legal counsel in defense of lawsuits and sensitive legal matters. Katherine participated in the development of and drafted and reviewed or supervised drafting and review of contracts and related documents for participation in joint ventures and managed care networks, provision of health care and related services, affiliations with other institutions, employment, leases of space and procurement of goods and services. Katherine also provides legal counsel and guidance to officers and members of the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners. Including drafts, reviews and approved legislation, rules and policies and procedures of the Board. Represents the Board in disciplinary matters, defense of lawsuits and other legal matters.
